Siu Yin Lee's Obituary
Siu Yin Lee (“Lee”), cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully and comfortably beside his beloved wife, Yun Ha (“Christine”), at home on November 16, 2023 after a long battle with COPD and most recently, cancer.
Lee was born in 1944 in the Zhong Shan province of China and immigrated to the United States in 1976 with Christine. They started their life in the U.S. first in Hawaii and then moved to the Bay Area in California, where they have spent the last 46 years. Lee prospered in California with his wife, raising two daughters, working for most of his career in the food and hospitality industry and even running a successful Chinese restaurant.
Lee was a caring and tremendously generous man, always giving gifts and opening his home to family and friends. He loved his family dearly, especially spending time with and spoiling his girls and five grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling and playing Mahjong with his friends, usually late into the night, and delighted in a good feast at one of the many restaurants they frequented. One of his travel highlights was taking his entire family to see and experience his childhood home in the village he grew up in.
Lee was preceded in death by his father Lee Kam Lun, mother Yuen Yun Har, sister Li Shiu Yee, and brother Li Shiu Pang. He is survived by his devoted wife of almost 48 years, Christine Lee of Fremont, CA; daughter Yolanda and her husband Allan of Richland, WA; daughter Vicky and her husband Nate of Richland, WA; grandsons Lucas and Owen; granddaughters Emma, Elise, and Eleanor; sisters Li Shiu Ying (husband Xu Mei Chun) and Li Shiu Kam (husband Chu Kai Kwong); cousin Shelton Lee (wife Diana), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am on November 24, 2023 at Chapel of the Chimes 32992 Mission Boulevard, Fremont, CA 94544. If one would like to make a memorial donation in lieu of flowers, the family suggests the Washington Hospital “Honor a Caregiver Program” in memory of Siu Yin Lee (Washington Hospital Healthcare Foundation at 2000 Mowry Avenue, Fremont, CA 94538). All donations are tax deductible (tax ID is 94-2886219).
