Simon G. Diaz Jr.Birth Date: July 25, 1932Death Date: June 24, 2019 Simon G. Diaz Jr. went to be with the Lord at the age of 86 on Monday, June 24, 2019, after living with Dementia. He was surrounded by his family in Manteca, California. He was born in Tombstone, Arizona on July 25, 1932 to Simon Diaz and Margarita (Anima) Diaz. He served for the Army in the Korean War. He worked at Pacific States Steel Corporation short of 30 years and then for Fremont School District as a Custodian until he retired to take care of his wife Hope Diaz. He gave his heart to the Lord at age 25. He was happy and honored to be a Deacon, the President of the Youth Group and Men’s Group, Vice President of the Men’s Group at Templo Betania Church, and the President and Secretary of the whole Section of Assembly of God. He also served as a missionary for 12 years for a church in Livermore. He had such a big spirit and gave many contributions towards his church, family and friends, his community, and especially to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was always seen with a big smile that could never be missed. He was preceded in death by his father, Simon Diaz; mother, Margarita (Anima) Diaz; Stepfather, Joseph (Chema) Godinez; wife, Hope Valentina (Chavez) Diaz married for 56 years; son, Mervin; sister, Estella; and bothers Thomas and David. He is survived by children: Simon Diaz (Maria) of Escalon, James Diaz (Rebecca) of San Marcos, Margaret Salazar (Ben) of Manteca, Jovita Yim (Ted) of Pleasanton, and Paul Diaz (Ian) of Guerneville. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Hope Valdez, as well as many nephews and nieces. Friends and family are invited to a visitation and service on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 5:00-8:30 p.m. and a funeral service on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Templo Betania, Assembly of God, 4350 Hansen Avenue in Fremont. Burial to follow at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward.
