Shirley Lorraine Marcotte's Obituary
Shirley Marcotte passed away at the age of 91 on April 24, 2022 at home with family by her side. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was born on November 13, 1930 in Oakland, California to Orlando and Gladys Parenti. Her father worked in the auto and paint industry. Her mother worked in a cannery in Oakland. She was their only child. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Marcotte in 2002. The shared over 50 years together and now are joined together for eternity.
She loved spending time in her condo in Tahoe, where the family would spend summers together. Her family always came first. She was always ready to help any family member with the challenges in their lives. There wasn't a more sympathetic ear you could have than hers. Her advice, quick wit and humor will be missed by us all.
She was actively involved in her children and grandchildren's lives. She never missed a birthday, graduation or any special event. G-Ma was all about getting the family together, spoiling her grandchildren and saying something to make you laugh. Everyone will miss the endless supply of chocolate milk and cookies that G-Ma always had available.
Her hobbies included family, travel and cooking. She was able to travel to many countries in her lifetime. She planned a big family vacation every year to new and interesting places. She gave the love of travel to all her children. At every opportunity she would take the children to parks or fairs and even ride the rollercoasters. She celebrated every holiday, the cherry pie on Washington's birthday to corned beef on ST. Patrick's Day. She was a fantastic cook, her recipes are cherished secrets and are protected at her request.
Shirley is survived by: her 2 sons, Randy Marcotte (Nancy), Brian Marcotte; 1 daughter, Lorri Paradiso (David); 6 grandchildren Johnathan Marcotte (Tara), Nicole Schultz (Damien), Danielle Cipolla (Michael), Michael Paradiso, Blake Marcotte, Logan Marcotte; and 4 great-grandchildren with one on the way, Lucca Cipolla, Olivia Marcotte, Matteo Cipolla and her youngest Cleo Schultz.
A private memorial will be held.
