Shirley M. Bice June 22, 1922 – April 15, 2009 Resident of San Leandro, CA Beloved mother of Richard Bice of Livermore CA and David Bice of Clearfield UT, Devoted Grandmother of Brandon Bice of Livermore CA, Michael Bice of Turlock CA, Brian Bice of Modesto CA, Steven Bice of Clearfield UT, Loving mother-in-law of Barbara Bice of Pleasanton CA. Caring Sister of Leonard Vigars of San Leandro CA, Everett Vigars of Arnold CA, Ralph Vigars of Pleasanton CA, Wesley Vigars of San Leandro CA, Sister-in-law Edith Frisbee of Sparks NV, and Cousin Nicky Vigars of Jamestown RI. Including eleven nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded by her husband Thomas G. Bice Sr.(1996) and eldest son Thomas (Gordon) Bice Jr.(1993) Shirley touched many lives in her life. She was born in Albany, New York the daughter of Alfred & Mildred Vigars. Graduated 1940 from Roessleville High School in Albany NY. Shirley married Thomas Bice May 17, 1944 in Oakland CA. and traveled with her husband during his military service. After discharge from the service they returned to Albany NY, to live, but in 1947 they moved to CA to be close to her family. While working as a homemaker raising her three sons, Shirley also worked in the office at Lewelling Elementary school from 1956 to 1961, and was president of PTA at Lewelling Elem. School. Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and visiting relatives and friends across the country. Shirley attended San Lorenzo Baptist Church now Cornerstone Fellowship since 1964. Shirley was a valued member of the congregation and supported many different functions within the church body. Friends and Family are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, April 22nd 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of the Chimes 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward Ca. Reception to follow at Cornerstone Fellowship at 180 Lewelling Blvd San Lorenzo, CA 94580. Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 21 2009 from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM Chapel of the Chimes.
