Shawn Michael Lawson's Obituary
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
Psalm 116:15
Shawn went into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 4, 2022, after
a four year long illness. He was 35 years old. Shawn was born in Hayward, California and a lifetime
resident of Newark, California. He graduated from Newark Memorial High School where he met the love
of his life and soul mate, Leah Sierras Lawson. They were married in August 2007 and went on to
produce four precious sons, the apple of their parents’ eye, Noah, Judah, Jonah and Shawn II.
Shawn worked for Gillig, LLC in Hayward for 10 years and left Gillig to pursue an Electrical Apprentice
Program in 2016 in order to provide a better future for his family. He passed the State Electrician Test,
but due to his illness was unable to complete the program. Shawn coached his sons’ baseball teams and
was part of the Board for Newark Little League. Shawn spent the rest of his time with his family,
pouring his love into his wife and children and together they followed the Lord. Although Shawn was
wheelchair bound, that didn’t stop him from attending all the activities he loved, going to church with his
family, attending his boys baseball and soccer games, going for drives to the beach, family movie night and
dates with his wife, Leah and hanging out with his family and friends. Sending a very special heartfelt
“Thank You” to the Kaiser Hospice Team in Hayward for the wonderful, loving care they gave Shawn the
last three months of his life.
Shawn is survived by and will be dearly missed, until the glorious reunion in God’s kingdom, by his wife,
Leah and sons, Noah, Judah, Jonah & Shawn II, his parents, Dwayne & Mary, his sister Lynn, his inlaws, Robert & Tammy & sister in-law, Alisia.
Shawn will be dearly missed as well by his many loving uncles, aunts, & cousins on his side and Leah’s
side of the family. Shawn will be dearly missed by his loving brothers & sisters in Christ Jesus he knew
through his church, Calvary Chapel Fremont. Shawn will be dearly missed by many, many caring and
