Severa V Masangkay's Obituary
Severa Masangkay, 91, of Fremont, CA, went to heaven on Thursday, February 20, 2014. She was born to the late Felipe Visaya and Emelia Olivar on Nov. 16, 1922, in Lipa, Batangas, Philippines. Severa had two brothers and three sisters: Mario, Fabian, Asyang, Lucing, and Pating.Severa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, amazing cook and seamstress. Severa was a supportive housewife who took care of her children in the Philippines and when she was 63 arrived in the U.S. and happily took care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and family dog, Nikito, as well. She proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1995.Severa is survived by her husband, Jacinto Masangkay, of Fremont, CA; and their five children: Erlinda Masangkay, Jaime Masangkay, and Emilia Leong, of Manila, Philippines; Maria Rosario Masangkay Aishaikh, of Hayward, CA; and Lorenza Pineda, of Fremont, CA. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Ronald Laserna, of San Jose, CA; Hailey Laserna, of Los Angeles, CA; Christopher John Pineda, of Fremont, CA; Bong Masangkay, John Masangkay, Lala Masangkay, Jay Masangkay, Meanne Cantuba, and Richard Leong, of Manila, Philippines; and three great grandchildren: Tristan Laserna and Trevor Laserna, of San Jose, CA; and Marcus Cantuba, of Manila, Philippines.
