Servillano Salac's Obituary
Mr. Servillano D. Salac died peacefully at a Nursing Home and met his Creator, God the Father, in heaven on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Mr. Salac was 83. Servillano Salac was born in Candaba Pampanga, Philippines, on November 29, 1929. Servillano was Art Director of the defunct Manila Chronicle, one of the prestigious newspaper in the Philippines. He also served as consultant to several well-known magazines, including the defunct Now magazine and Sunburst, as well as Art Director at Meralco, an agency that provides electric power to Manila and surrounding provinces. Servillano won several awards for his outstanding magazine and newspaper layouts and cartoon caricatures, published in Manila and internationally. One of his famous cartoon caricatures, that of then US President Richard Nixon, who was characterized with an elongated nose, was published in newspapers and magazines in Manila and the US, where he was praised and honored in the editorial section. Servillano Salac is survived by wife, Librada Cayari Salac; Sons, William Salac & Edward Salac; daughters, Wilma S. Owen, Marissa S. Bernabe, Marilou S. Clemente, Emma Salac and Suzette Santiago; Sons-In-Law, Richard C. Owen, Carlos Bernabe, Richard Clemente, Arnold Santiago; Daughter-in-Law, Chona Salac & grandchildren. Viewing will be held on June 8, 2012 at 5:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2012, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward CA. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
