Selma C. Hill's Obituary
Selma Christine “Sally” Hill “Sally” Hill May 16, 1917 – Jan. 7, 2009 Resident of Dublin Sally was born in North Dakota to Matilda and Oliver Holm. She was the third child of thirteen children. She grew up on a farm. At age 20, she moved to California where she became a cosmetologist. In 1940, she met and later marred Lyman Ford Hill. During World War II, while Lyman was serving in the U.S. Navy in Pacific, she worked in the Oakland Post Office. After the war, she was very dedicated wife and mother, as well as remaining close to the rest of her family. Sally is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Lyman Hill; her granddaughter, Suzanne Hill; her brother, William Holm, Oliver Holm, and Wesley Holm; her sisters, Helen Kent, Mabel Anderson, and Linda Pepper. Sally is survived by her son, Gregory Hill; her grandson, Eric Hill; her great granddaughters, Elizabeth Hill and Matilda Bennett, her brother, Ole Holm; her sisters, Myrtle Livendalen, Doris Tuski, Nina Taylor, Lillian Miller and Ruth Sorensen. Sally is also survived by her companion of the last 11 years, Lester Rowe. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat. Jan 24, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544. Following the service, there will be a special reception at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 7421 Amarillo Rd, Dublin, CA 94568.
