Scott Christopher Marcelo's Obituary
On September 22, 2023, the world went a bit dimmer with the unexpected passing of Scott Christopher Marcelo, exactly three months before his milestone 40th birthday. Scott was a loving and dedicated son, husband, and father of his three children: Tyler, Nolan, and Kaia.
Scott was born on December 22, 1983 in Honolulu, Hawaii and lived there for a few years before settling in the Bay Area, California. He lived in Union City most of his life, graduating from Logan High School in 2001. His constant ambition and openness to take risks led him to a variety of roles within Tech/Cyber Security and other entrepreneurial endeavors. Although he lived in the Bay Area, Hawaii was always considered home to him, spending several summers during his childhood on Oahu and visiting relatives at least once a year. He dreamed of one day starting a business to further educate the people of Hawaii in financial literacy.
Scott knew his wife, Jackie, since high school, and reconnected around 2006 when he got Jackie her first corporate job while he was a recruiter. After reconnecting, they fell in love and married on September 26, 2009. From there, they welcomed three beautiful children: Tyler, 13, Nolan, 11, and their baby girl Kaia, 2. He absolutely loved being a father, being a constant mentor to his boys and having a soft spot for his only daughter, giving her whatever she wanted.
He was loved by everyone and made such a significant impact on all of our lives. We will miss his wisdom, sense of humor, cheering on the 49ers together, and overall presence around us. While most of us knew him as the life of the party, those close knew him as the go-to person for advice and motivation. Many referred to him as the glue of keeping friends and family together, and we will continue to keep his legacy alive.
He is survived by his wife (Jackie), three children (Tyler, Nolan and Kaia), mother and stepfather (Zenaida and Jaime Rosales), father and stepmother (William and Marissa Marcelo), brother (Luke), and grandmother (Lucia Gamatero Ladera).
Viewing services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, California from October 13-14, 2023, from 4pm-8pm. Funeral services will also be held at Chapel of the Chimes at 12:30pm, followed by the burial service.
