I 0nly learned of Beth’s passing recently and am heartbroken. Such a special lady, such a shining light. Her husband Hal was a wonderful painter and my husband and I enjoyed their friendship for years. We own several of Hal’s works, which give great joy. I wish that Beth’s family had reached out to Beth’s many friends. Was there a service? We would like to honor Beth. I first met Beth at Unity of Fremont Church and was in the Womens’ Group there with her. I became her friendly visitor with LifeEldercare in 2012, visiting her for almost 5 years. She was always grateful for my visits and I felt so blessed to have her as my senior to visit. I almost feel like I got more out of the visits than she did. She got a masters degree in comparative religions and taught classes in it in San Leandro. She shared so much of her knowledge about different religions with me and I learned a lot from her. She was such a vibrant person and at one time belonged to so many organizations in Fremont; started some and was on the board of some. She loved giving to people and had such a positive attitude even in the midst of her suffering pain in her legs and slowly losing her memory. She said it was her faith that kept her so positive. Now she is out of her pain and with her husband Hal who she was so proud of and was such a gifted artist. They were the love of each other’s life. I loved her like a big sister and she was truly a wonderful gift in my life. God bless her and her family. Karen Wheatley

Beth was a member of Unity Church in Fremont, which is how we met. Several times she suggested a trip to Unity Village together, but we never made it. We were part of a Unity Women’s Group for many years, having a lot in common, both being retired teachers, and her having a son-in-law from India, and me a husband from there. I was amazed at her enthusiasm for everything. I learned a lot about Hal from her and her involvement with his workshops locally and overseas. I saw her several times at Brookdale, where she seemed quite content. I commend the friendship provided by Karen Wheatley, who visited Beth weekly at Brookdale. Beth left lots of good memories with her many friends. Pat Heer

Beth was my high school counselor and then friend. She was always upbeat and a positive force in the classroom and in the counseling office. She gave me the courage and confidence to apply to the USAF Academy when women were not even allowed there yet. When I was accepted to the first class of women she continued to boost my spirits and confidence in myself with notes and cards. We continued that for 40+ with the annual Christmas letter exchange and throughout my military career our paths would cross at various locations where I was stationed. She once surprised me at a military change-of-command ceremony which took my breath away. Her presence in my life significantly contributed to my successes and accomplishments. Her presence in all of our lives will be sorely missed.

Beth was a wonderful friend to my mother, Jane Mayer. They both lived at Brookdale in Fremont and spent a lot of time together. I will always appreciate her kindness and friendship. She was a beautiful lady.
