Sam S. Abbate, 94, Hayward,CA, formerly of San Antonio, Texas passed away on August 11, 2018 with his family while at the home of Ray and Eileen Abbate in Dublin, CA.Services celebrating Sam’s life on Sunday August 26th for the Rosary. The viewing hours are 5:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the Rosary will begin at 6:00 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes in the Mission Chapel Hayward, CA . The funeral service will be on Monday, August 27th at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes in the Mission Chapel Hayward, CA .Sam will receive military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Veteran’s Wounded Warriors.Sam was born on October 12, 1923 in San Antonio, TX to Gisuppie and Adelina (Solice) Abbate. He married Anita on December 6, 1942. Sam and Anita moved to California in 1948 and resided in Hayward for 67 years. He retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Co. in Oakland, CA and was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.Sam loved traveling, camping and dancing. He loved his wife Anita more than anything in this world. He loved spending time with his family any chance he could. His humor would keep you rolling on the floor laughing. One of his favorite foods was tamales but more than anything he loved to make them pulling all the family together to make them.Surviving are his daughter Linda Stepansky and her husband Gary, son Sammy Jr and son Ray and his wife Eileen Abbate. Beloved grandchildren John, Cammy, Keri, Adam, Jill, Renee, Chris, beloved great grandchildren Aliha, Princess, Lida, Taylor, Bailey, Anthony, Jayla, JC, Christopher, Caitlin, Jayden, Jaxson, Shea, Zoey, Maddox and London.
