Ruth PereiraSeptember 30, 1927 – May 6, 2014Resident of San LeandroRuth, passed away peacefully with her sons by her side.Ruth headed West from Massachusetts, along with her brothers David, Tony and John, where she met the love of her life and future husband Victor Pereira. They were married on October 17, 1953 and resided in Oakland until moving to San Leandro in 1965.Ruth worked as a seamstress for over 20 years before retiring to provide care for her grandchildren. She loved to crochet, knit, make puzzles and cook for her extended family. In addition, she enjoyed her frequent trips to Lake Tahoe and tribal gaming casinos, where she always played her lucky “Triple Cherry” slots.Although she was later visually impaired, she was an avid fan of game shows, sporting events (Giants, A’s, Raiders, 49ers, Sharks and Red Sox) and Judge Judy.One of her proudest moments was having her nephew Donaciano Santos reside with her family after his stint in the Marine Corps.Ruth’s generous and loving spirit will be missed by her family, neighbors and friends.Ruth is survived by her husband Victor, her two sons Victor Jr. and Daniel and four grandchildren Jordan, Alyse, Nathan and Marissa.Charitable donations in lieu of flowers may be made in her honor to Research to Prevent Blindness at www.rpbusa.orgFriends and family are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday May 17th at 1pm at the Chapel of the Chimes Hayward.
