Ruth Afton Fruge's Obituary
Ruth Afton Fruge Oct. 4, 1919 – Aug. 21, 2009 Resident of Oakland Ruth passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 89. Born in Morgan Utah, she was the daughter of the late George and Amy Chloe (Lyons) Criddle. One of eleven children, she attended school in Morgan Utah until moving to California in the 1940’s. She married Wilson Fruge on November 23, 1946 and together they had three children. She is survived by her son Gary (Arlene) Fruge, daughter Amy Hewett, and son Bradley (Marsha) Fruge. She also leaves 2 grandchildren, Jason Fruge whom she raised, and Alan Hewett. Ruth also leaves 2 great-grandsons, Jacion and Jayovoni Fruge, and two sisters Mae (Daniel) Fruge of Fernley NV and Louise Radenbaugh of 29 Palms Ca. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints and served 19 years as a primary teacher in the San Leandro Ward. A Generous and lovely lady, her home was open to everyone. Besides her love of family, Ruth enjoyed her cabin in Aptos, camping at Yosemite, and staying at Santa Cruz on her birthday. She loved the Ocean. Family and Friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday August 25 at 5:00 – 8:30 p.m and to A Celebration of Life on Wednesday August 26 at 10:00 a.m. at the Reflection Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward Ca, 94544 510-471-3343. Interment will be in Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to Vitas Hospice Care. The family wishes to express their thanks to Vitas Hospice for their loving and special care.
