Russell Dumas Broussard's Obituary
Russell Dumas Broussard born January 29, 1934 in Iberia Parish, Louisiana passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 87 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents Dumas and Laura Broussard; his siblings, Johnny, Eddy, Howard, Rosemary, Clara, and Ruby.
Russell graduated from Fremont High School in Oakland. He attended Laney College and received his apprenticeship certificate in carpentry. He was a proud member of the Carpenters Union Local 1473 from 1956.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Norma Greenly Broussard. Russ was loved by his children Leesa Holland, Charlene Hillman (Don), Jacquelyn Allen, and Russell Dana Broussard, as well as his 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Russ enjoyed his time bowling at Cloverleaf Family Bowl as a member of the Cloverleaf Match Club and various travel leagues which afforded him the opportunity to visit many conventions and tournaments around the US. He and Norma loved to travel internationally; especially cruising. They enjoyed dancing together and he was a favorite dance partner for all the single ladies. Russ was an avid Giants, Raiders, and Warriors fan. He loved nothing more than fishing with his son and grandsons; especially their trips to Canada and Alaska.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Russ’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date.
