‘Auntie Ruby’ always had cookies, “Mother’s Cookies” Chocolate Chip, in a bag on top of her refrigerator. One time, I really wanted a cookie, so I talked Mike and my sister Phyllis into having a tea party….well, you CAN’T have a tea party without cookies, so then I said to Mike: “Go tell your mom we need cookies for our tea party”…and he went in the house, and in a few minutes out comes ‘Auntie Ruby’ with the bag of cookies…! She was SO NICE about it…she could of totally called my greedy butt on the carpet about it – I was the oldest in the group (I think I had even gotten my younger brother Ray involved)- but nope, she was her nice welcoming self and gave us 2 or 3 cookies a piece. [You know those nice mini round ones, right?] Oh my gosh, I still remember how good they were, and yes, I WAS so bold to ask if I could STILL could have another one…..and she did get “the look”. By then, she “knew” I was behind the whole plan, but she still gave it to me, especially, when she asked: “Anybody else want more?”, and NO ONE spoke up….
