Ru Wing Chen's Obituary
Ru Wing Chen passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of January 12, 2017 at home with his wife Nancy by his side. He was born on August 8, 1931 in Fook Kong, Toyshan, Kwangtung, China to Young Din Chen and King Shou Wong Chen. He immigrated to the United States—New York—in December of 1949 to help support his family. He was the eldest of four sons. Ru Wing married his wife Nancy on September 17, 1961. They lived in a small apartment in White Plains, NY until 1974 when they were able to put a down payment on a small house in Hartsdale, NY. In November of 1986, they moved with their daughter Tina to Union City, CA where he would spend the rest of his life. Ru Wing was hard-working and a devoted husband and father. He loved to tease and joke around with his family. He was also the family peacemaker. He loved to cook and eat—he was the head chef at Tung Sing Restaurant in Hartsdale, NY. He also enjoyed photography and doing Bonsai. He was a member of Yamato Bonsai Kai and would spend countless hours/days perfecting his “show” trees. Ru Wing Chen will truly be missed. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughter Tina, younger brother Kwang Wing Chen, and many nieces and nephews.
