ROSARIO CRUZ's Obituary
Rosario Umayam Cruz October 16, 1938-February 9, 2014Dr. Rosario “Rose” Umayam Cruz met our Creator on February 9, 2014 at the age of 75 in Hayward, California surrounded by her family members. She was the daughter of Victorino and Maxima (Tablizo) Umayam from Alcala, Pangasinan. She graduated with a doctorate degree in Optometry and a board topnotcher, placing 8th in the Optometry Board Licensure Exam in the Philippines where she practiced for almost 50 years. She tied the knot with the love of her life, Dr. Crispin B. Cruz, on September 9, 1962 and even wrote their own ‘estoria de un amor’ (the story of our love) to always remember how they met and how their love grew. She has served in many callings in the church through the medical ministry and deaconship. She loves to create beautiful handmade products which she gives to friends as keepsakes and tokens of love. She was known for her humility, thoughtfulness, and generosity. Most of all, she was woman of faith with a strong heart. Survived by her loving husband, Crispin; children, Venus and Alvin Pineda, Lani Cruz, Joey and Gayle Cruz, Marie Cruz, Dina Cruz, Christopher and Billie Cruz; grandchildren, Chloe, Mikee, Gabbie, Joshua, Chelsea, Japeth, Alee, Aya and Asia; sisters, Nelia, Nina, and Vicky and brother Rene. Preceeded in death by son, Crispin Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014, 10:00 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes – Mission Chapel, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544. Friends and family are invited to attend the viewing on Thursday evening 5:00-9:00 p.m. at the same venue. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the people who were a part of her life.
