Rosaline Mendoza's Obituary
Rosaline Mendoza peacefully entered into rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 26, 2018. She was surrounded by her loved ones as she took her last breath. Mother was 79 years of age.The fourth of five children blessed to Peter and Sophie Rodrigues.Born Rosaline Rodrigues on the island of Kauai Nov. 6, 1938. She later moved with her family to Oahu and always expressed her wonderful childhood years spent with family and many cousins eating mangoes under grandmas’ trees. She was an avid softball player and was excellent in the short stop position.Later she settled in Hayward with her parents and her younger brother, and met a local boy from Hawaii named Richard Dias. They married in 1957 and preceded to have two daughters and one son.She later remarried to the love of her life Sostenes Mendoza in 1980. Married 39 years they loved traveling extensively to exotic places such as Costa Rica, Switzerland, Canada, Mexico Hawaii and including The Holy Land.Rosaline enjoyed a successful career of 27 years as a manager for Spectrum Community Services a non-profit organization (Meals on wheels) providing for seniors and low income families. She oversaw up to 2000 meals per day in the bay area, organizing, distributing, kitchen safety and services, and the dietary needs of her many clients. She was much admired by her peers for her work ethic, diplomacy, and compassion for her colleagues and employees. She retired in 2005.In her golden years she loved quality time walking with her sister Dora and cousin Lizzy enjoying a cup of coffee, a good story and much laughter.She faithfully attended and served many years at the Union City Apostolic Church and admired how beautiful the worship music was.Rosaline will be lovingly remembered by her husband Sostenes Mendoza, her three children Doreen Dias Macabe (Dennis), John Dias (Daisy), Shelly Dias Santos (Fred). Her grandsons Justin and Trevor Macabe, granddaughters Christina and Olivia Dias, and great granddaughter Arianna Mendez. Her three sisters Julia Lorenzo, Dora Flores, Dia Lopes and brother Peter Rodrigues. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and adopted grandchildren Raul, Joe, Louis, Max, Nathan, Eva, Grace & Kylie.We thank this extraordinary woman for passing on to us her gift of faith, her unconditional love, her wisdom, her strength and courage, but most importantly the way she gave with all her heart.
