Roque Torres Alvarez Devoted husband and fatherRoque Torres Alvarez, 97, died Monday, June 6, at home with his granddaughter by his side.Roque was born August 21, 1918 in San Antonio,Tex., to Ben and Amadita Alvarez.In 1945, Roque was honorably discharged from the Air Force after serving his country in WWII. From there he went on to work for General Motors in Fremont, CA until full retirement.Roque never stopped working. He was known by many for his tireless energy. His passions were family, friends and woodworking – always crafting and inventing in his workshop.Roque is survived by his daughter, 12 grandchildren, and many, many great-grandchildren and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife Teresa Alvarez, and his sons Daniel Alvarez and Arturo Alvarez.Visitation will be Sunday, June 19, at 5 p.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, Reflection Chapel, in Hayward, CA. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 20 at 12 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes, Reflection Chapel.
