ROLENDIA “ROLEY” SOLOMON Sister Roley was a faithful servant of God that never failed her duty, a loving mother and a caring grandmother. She was smart, a sweet-natured woman that appreciated the simple life filled with love and with peace. Her final journey was on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Pittsburg, CA. She was 88 years old.Sister Roley was born on November 27, 1924 at Asingan, Pangasinan in the Philippines where she spent most of her childhood. Graduated from The National Teachers College in 1950, and a former elementary school teacher from 1952, but quit teaching after 8 years to take care of her growing children. She then became a librarian to Philippine Chinese High School in Binondo, Manila and to the defunct Philippine Evening News. She retired from Salvation Army.She married Glicerio Solomon, her high school sweetheart and her one and only love in 1949 and she chose not to remarry after his demise in 1970. She took in stride to be the single mother responsible of her younger children. She was unselfish in all her choices in life for she would always prioritize on what would benefit her family rather than her own. She would always want what was best for her family.She was a faithful and a devoted member of the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo). During her early years, she was one of the early members that helped Oakland Locale to flourish. She was a deaconess that helped in overseeing its members. Her kindness and words of wisdom inspired many. She invited non-member friends to listen and to know about the Church whom she had great faith with. Her faith was unwavering, she would always remind her family to always pray and to entrust everything to God.She enjoyed life to the fullest. Loved and enjoyed all INC activities. A voracious reader, she loved romantic novels and TFC soaps. Did planting to get relaxed, and was a bowler for Oakland locale. She did knitting and crocheting. She collected many pictures and wrote personal thoughts to journals. She had 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Grandma or Momma Roley” and “Grandma Storm” to her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor and known by many to have a very good memory. She memorized her family’s birthdays and she never forgot to call and to greet them. Her smile was very special and genuinely friendly.Sister Roley left many wonderful memories: her children, Florante, Adonis, Arthur, Cesar (deceased), Amor, Rowena, Ruth; daughter-in-laws: Paciencia, Marilou, Ruby, Lorenza; son-in-laws: Albert, Dominador, David; grandchildren: Allan, Leah, Abigail, Anna, Alma, Edison, Angeli, Julian, Alex, Alden, Jessica, Mark, Dominic, Jayson; great grandchildren: Isaah, Shaun, Atasha, Rhydan and host of other family and friends.Sister Roley will be dearly missed by those she loved and those who loved her.
