Rogelio Jacobe Boo's Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce that Rogelio (Roger) Boo left us to join the Lord on Monday
February 6 at his home in Union City, CA at the age of 80 years old.
Roger was born in August 1942 in Batangas, Philippines to Diego and Josefa Boo.
He was the 5th of 10 brothers and sisters. Growing up in Mindoro,
Roger lived and worked on the family farm growing bananas, rice and coconuts.
With Josefa passing away at an early age and Diego traveling the provinces for work, Roger and his siblings helped raise each other on the farm.
In his youth, Roger was an avid reader and reciter of poetry.
He was also a strong athlete, excelling in basketball, baseball, bowling and table tennis.
Roger attended college at Manuel L. Quezon University in Manila where he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering.
Soon after graduation, Roger met his soulmate Feliciana (Fely) while they both worked at the National Institute of Science and Technology.
Roger and Fely were married in Fely’s home town of Baclayon, Bohol in 1972 and Fely gave birth to their first son, Rogelio Jr. (Jun) a year later.
In search of a better life, Roger immigrated to the US in 1974.
He stayed in San Francisco with his brother Rolando Sr. and his family.
Fely and Jun joined him a few months later.
Their first family home was an apartment in the Fruitvale district of Oakland, where their son Michael was born in 1976.
The family then moved to the Fremont/Union City area, where Roger and Fely lived for the past 45 years.
Their daughter Michelle completed the family in 1979.
Roger spent most of his career in the packaging industry as a production and QA supervisor.
Every day after work, he’d prepare the family dinner before taking the kids to pick up Fely at the BART station.
Roger loved going to casinos with his brothers and friends.
He was an avid fan of all Bay Area sports teams.
He felt most at home tending to his garden and cooking wonderful feasts for family and friends.
He had a life-long affinity for dogs and assigned each one several different pet names.
Last, but not least, he especially loved doting on his grandchildren Elijah, Micah and Owen.
Roger is survived by his wife Fely, his children Jun, Mike and Michelle,
his grandchildren Elijah, Micah and Owen,
his brothers Godofredo, Rolando Sr., Bernardino and Victorio,
plus many more cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
We will all miss him more than words can say.
