Mr Rodolfo Lainez Ballelos' Obituary
Rodolfo “Rudy” Lainez Ballelos died peacefully in his home at the age of 82 on Saturday August 3, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Conchita Yumol Ballelos, daughter and spouse Ruchille (JayJay) Ruiz, son Dr. Roderick Ballelos, and two grandchildren, Jianna Ruiz and Jarred Ruiz, whom he was affectionally known as “Peeto”. Rudy is also survived by siblings Rogelio (Fely) Ballelos, Editha (Ogie) Guevarra, Marilou (Emmy) Fanuncio and Macario (Gloria) Ballelos, Jr. He was preceded in death by his siblings Norma De Guzman (Bert), Virgilio (Ampy) Ballelos and Edgardo (Bel) Ballelos. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he deeply cared for.
Born in Tuy, Batangas, Philippines, he was raised by Macario Ballelos, Sr. and Luz Lainez Ballelos. He attended National University of the Philippines and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture in 1967, while also playing on his college basketball team. He met his future wife, Conchita Yumol, while they both worked at Hotel Philippinas in 1960, where he used to serenade her with Elvis songs. They immigrated to the United States in 1975 and started their new life in California raising his two children, Ruchille and Roderick in Union City, Ca.
He worked very hard as an Engineer at many companies during his career including Caterpillar, Pantronix and Memorex. He eventually started his own company with his friend Ben Valete called B & R Enterprise in Hayward, California.
Being a devout Catholic, he retired and became heavily involved with St. Anne's church as an usher and altar server. He proudly spent every weekend with the Knights of Columbus 4th 'Patriotism' Degree and served as an Honor Guard.
Rudy enjoyed music, singing, as well as watching sports and betting on the games. He would also never turn down a trip to Cache Creek or a huge cup of Magnolia Ice Cream! He loved and spoiled his grandkids Jianna and Jarred, and dropped off and picked them up from school every day, making him a fixture at the St. Edward Campus.
Rudy had an infectious laugh and goofy sense of humor that made him the life of the party. He lived a wonderful life full of love and he will be greatly missed by his family and cherished friends very much.
Eternal rest grant unto his soul, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace...Amen.
