Roberto Cordero Miramontes passed away on March 8, 2026. Roberto was born on November 12, 1926 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Domingo and Jovita Miramontes. Roberto was part of a large family including 12 siblings and many cousins. Roberto moved to Zacatecas, Mexico in 1931 with his family, where he lived until 1944, when he returned to the U.S. He joined General Motors in 1951 and spent over 32 years working in many roles related to manufacturing.
Roberto married his wife, Mary, in 1948. They lived in Union City and raised four boys, Robert (Eileen), Peter (Barbara), Louis (Kristi) and David (Elenor). The family was the center of their life, as was their Church, Primera Iglesia Bautista of Union City. Roberto and Many attended many family and church gatherings, along with sporting events watching their sons play sports. When the grandchildren came along, they were elated and loved spending time with them on holidays, birthdays and other special events. Roberto and Mary loved to vacation including Acapulco, Mexico City and other beach towns. In 1991, Robert and Mary relocated to Danville.
Robert had 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He loved holding the new family members, sharing his love, and spending lots of time with them. Robert was a strong leader of his family and frequently guided family members and close friends. Robert and Mary were a very close couple for all 72 years of marriage.
Roberto is preceded in death by Mary, sons Robert and Peter, and several siblings.
A memorial service and burial will be held on March 18, 2026, at 10am, at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, California.
