Roberto R. Gonzales' Obituary
On Sunday, July 1st 2018, Roberto Rodriguez Gonzales has passed away peacefully at his Union City home with his family at the age of 96. Roberto was a native of Pearsall, Texas born on August 20, 1921. Mr. Gonzales is a WWII U.S. Army Veteran and proudly served his country as a Combat Signaler in the Signal Construction Battalion from December 1942 to December 1945 being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. During his time in service he fought the battles and campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Ardenaes, Rhineland, Central Europe and Japan. He was awarded the Victory Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, 3 Overseas Service Bars, EAME Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.Roberto is predeceased by his wife Ophelia Longoria Gonzales and his eldest son Roberto Gonzales Jr. Roberto will be lovingly remembered by his 3 surviving children Raymundo Longoria Gonzales, Sr. and wife MaryJane Gonzales, Rudolpho Longoria Gonzales and daughter Rosalinda Longoria Gonzales-Ortiz and husband Mike Ortiz. Roberto will be fondly remembered by his 9 grandchildren: David, Natalie, Alicia(Louie), Albert(Brighid), Raymond(Carmen), Rudy, Janelle(Jimmy), Jocelyn(Song), Daniel(Courtney), his 18 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-great Grandchildren.Prayer & Viewing Services:July 10, 2018 Tuesday from 4-5 PM Family, 5-9pm Extended Friends and Family; Chapel of the Chimes Reflection Chapel; 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544.July 11, 2018 Wednesday 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 703 C St, Union City, CA 94587.Military Burial Ceremony to follow immediately following Mass at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward. A gathering to commence post burial at Our Lady of the Rosary Gym Hall till 5:00 PM.
