ROBERTO “BOBBY” FRANCO ALICANTE NOVEMBER 10, 1948 – AUGUST 12, 2014Roberto “Bobby” Franco Alicante, the fourth of seven children of the late Juan Sirwet Alicante and Bonifacia Franco Alicante was born on a beautiful day of November 10, 1948 in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines.He attended Juan Luna Elementary School and Ramon Magsaysay High School in Sampaloc, Manila. He was an accomplished “handyman”, an expert welder, stainless fabricator and “Jack of All Trades who can fixed anything he touch into perfect condition.His expertise and attention to details were being sought by pharmaceutical, restaurant and hospitals because his work were professionally done.On February 21, 1972 he married Estrella Joaquin from San Felipe, Zambales, Philippines. Their beautiful marriage brought them four beautiful children, daughter Loreta, son Melochor and Robert. Second daughter Joanne died at the age of four in 1984.On August 26, 1996, Roberto and Estrella immigrated to the United States of America to begin his pursuit of the American dream. He started by working as a caregiver and later on as an apartment maintenance worker at Glenoaks Apartment in Hayward, CA. To make use of his spare time, he applied and was able to secure a part time job at Washington Hospital in housekeeping.Roberto was the only one with a driver’s license. Making the commute between two jobs and dropping off his wife at Wal-Mart took its toll on him. With the advice of his wife, she told him to apply at Wal-Mart. He was hired as a part-time maintenance worker.Managers and supervisors at Wal-Mart soon recognized his special talents and Skills, so they made him a permanent employee. He quit his job at Glenoaks apartment and devoted his full time at Wal-Mart, the job he loved until his untimely death at the age of 65 years old.He loved to sing Karaoke at family gatherings, play the lotto scratchers and fantasy five. On Jan 2000 he won $ 50,000.00 dollars playing the “Path to Money” scratchers.Besides his wife and three children, he is survived by two sisters, Teresita Alicante Mangaccat, a Nurse in Las Vegas, NV, and Agnes Alicante-Veynovich, a Nurse at Glendale, CA. Three brothers, Jesus Alicante, retired Senior Chief, United States Navy, and BART employee, Union City, CA, Walfrido Alicante, retired Casino employee, Las Vegas, NV and Rolando Alicante, retired Kaiser Permanente, medical equipment technician. Eleven grandchildren namely: Jeffrey, L.A. Loyd, Lorraine, Laurice, Lawrence, Michael, Christian, Joann, Catherine, Dwane Ann and JoJo all residing in the Philippines.A loving husband, great father and loved his grandchildren. He was a simple person, friendly, liked to joke, good sense of humor and meticulous when he dressed,
