Robert William Torres, born Saturday, June 6th, 1936 in Oakland, CA; Entered into Rest on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 in San Leandro, CA. Age 77 years. A resident of San Leandro..Survived by his loving daughter, Kelly Bowen; a grandson, Devon Bowen, and a granddaughter, Tori Bowen; 4 great-grandchildren, and 2 more on the way, as well as his closest cousin, Joyce Vasquez. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Dixie Torres, as well as his parents, William and Marie Torres.Robert worked one job his entire life… as a warehouseman and forklift operator for Raymark Cargo, on the Oakland Army Base, for 46 years. He was a long-standing member of the Teamsters Union. He remained clean and sober for 36 years. Robert loved fishing, and sports, especially football. He was a devoted San Francisco 49’ers fan.Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 pm, at Chapel of the Chimes Reflection Chapel, 32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544.Additional Visitation was also held on Thursday, October 10, 2013, from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 am, again in the Chapel of the Chimes Reflection Chapel. A graveside Committal Service followed the funeral, at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, adjacent to the chapel.
