Robert Lyle Rathbun, Sr. a Hayward, California resident entered into rest Friday, March 22, 2002 in Hayward. Born in Macomb, Illinois on January 13, 1921, he was 81 years of age. Robert loved fishing, camping and hunting. He enjoyed building things, creating new and useful inventions. He loved sports especially his Oakland Aâs and San Francisco 49erâs. He loved gardening, traveling and horse races. He was very artistic. He served in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd Class Boatswain Mate for 6 years. He was a Veteran of WWII. He retired as a Sheet Metal Mechanic after 41 years from Alameda Naval Air StationDearly beloved husband of Eulah B. Rathbun, deceased. Loving father of Darryl Musgrove of Washington, Larraine Fisher of Australia, Linda Bauer, deceased, Barbara Perry of Hayward, California, Gerry Edie of Grass Valley, California, Janet Medina of St. George, Utah, Melanie Diamond of River Pines, California, LaRita Buckley of Grass Valley, California and Robert L. Rathbun, Jr. of Brentwood, California. Dear brother of Margaret Somers, Deceased. Devoted grandfather of twenty-five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2002 from 5:30PM to 8:30PM at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward.
