Roberto Armando Palma died peacefully at the age of 88 in the comfort of his home on Thursday August 25, 2022 in the company of his loving wife of 47 years Rosa Luisa Palma and his daughter Cynthia Palma.
Roberto Armando Palma, also lovingly known as Bob, was born September 15, 1933 in San Salvador, El Salvador, to Marta Antonia Staben and Humberto Armando Palma. He came to the United States at the age of 12 with his brother Alfredo Palma. The family settled in San Francisco, living in the “House on Silver Ave” where he grew up with many of his aunts and cousins. Bob attended Balboa High School in San Francisco and graduated Class of 1952. He loved playing sports and was active in football, soccer, basketball, and track. After high school, he attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco where he honed his love for drawing and painting. Bob married his first wife Gladys on July 27, 1957 and had three children, Robert, Nicholas, and Cynthia. He joined the army and was stationed in Pennsylvania, but later returned to San Francisco after serving for 2 years. Bob married June Asquith in July 1966 for seven years and was stepfather to Tony, Vince, and Brett. In August of 1975, Bob married Rosa Luisa in South Lake Tahoe and had their son Alejandro Armando. Bob worked for Lockheed Martin as a Graphic Design Specialist and retired after 34 years. He enjoyed listening to opera music, drawing, painting, singing, cooking and making people laugh. He also enjoyed watching movies and sporting events which included soccer and football games, especially the 49ers. Bob had a full and happy life, always surrounded by the enormous love of his family. Bob is survived by his wife Rosa Luisa Palma, his 4 children Robert Palma, Nicholas Palma, Cynthia Palma, and Alejandro Armando Palma; his 8 grandchildren Roberta, Courtney, James, Jayden, Hannah, Dylan, Kylie and Chloe; 2 great-grandchildren Angel and Nevaeh; his sisters Gladys Velasquez and Myriam Palma; and several cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom he loved very much.
