Rita I. Duran, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 13, 2024. She was born on November 19, 1928, in Trujlllo, New Mexico, Rita lived a life full of hard work, love, and dedication.
Leaving home at an early age, Rita embraced a life of independence and perseverance. She worked tirelessly as a waitress and later as a nurse, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to providing for her family and serving others. Rita's professional journey led her to the New Mexico State Hospital, where she worked for several years before moving to California. There, she continued her nursing career at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, retiring after 29 years of devoted service.
Rita was married to Felix Duran, with whom she shared a loving and caring union. She has two daughters: Isabel Duran and Rose Anaya. She had two son-in-laws: Fermin Duran and Billy Anaya. Rita's family continued to grow, and she was blessed with eight grandchildren: Debbie Cunningham, Jerry Cunningham, Jerome Billy Anaya, Wayne Anaya, Denise Anaya, Anthony Duran, Judy Cuturrufo, and Cristian Cuturrufo. Her legacy extends to great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her pride and joy.
Despite her demanding work schedule, Rita found time to provide unwavering support and invaluable advice to all those she encountered. Her home at Fremont Niles Canyon Mobile Home Park was a haven of warmth and hospitality, where she lovingly tended to her beautiful flowers and watched over her grandchildren.
Rita's life was a testament to resilience and strength. She taught her family and friends the importance of hard work and the joy of life. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a life well-lived.
Rita I. Duran will always be remembered and never forgotten. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, forever inspiring them to live life with the same vigor and love that she did.
