Richard Meissner's Obituary
MEISSNER RICHARD F. MEISSNER Passed away on May, 18, 2006 inCastro Valley , at the age of 92. Dick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Meissner; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Jan Meissner; grandchildren, David Meissner, Julie Gibbons, and her husband, Patrick. Born Sept. 3, 1913 in Little Rock, AR, raised in Omaha, NE, and lived in Oakland since 1946, Dick was a construction superintendent who retired from Local 713 of the Carpenter'sUnion in 1979. A Hiram Award recipient and 50-year member of San Leandro Lodge #113 and Crow Canyon Lodge #551 F & AM, Scottish Rite, and Aahmes Shrine. A WWII veteran, Dick served in the Pacific with the Seabees as a Chief Petty Office. Quick to volunteer for community service, Dick was active in neighborhood groups. He had a major role in early Woodminster Amphitheater improvements, and was Chapter Dad for Fruitvale DeMolay for many years. He enjoyed spending time with friends, and traveled extensively. Dick had a quick smile, a great sense of humor, and he dearly loved garage sales. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Family and friends are invited to the CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES MEMORIAL PARK AND FUNERAL HOME, 32292 Mission Blvd. Hayward, CA, to attend the Visitation on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 from 4:30-8:30 PM and Funeral Service on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow service.
