Richard A. Maxfield Sr.'s Obituary
Richard went to be with the Lord on April 30 at the age of 85. He was born in Rochester, New Hampshire to Leo and Nester Maxfield in 1932. His family moved to Portland, Maine in 1946 where he met and married the love of his life, Carol in 1951. Their first of 3 children, Susan was born in Portland, Maine. He moved his family to Tacoma, Wa in 1953 where they had two more children; Richard Jr. and Gregory. The family then moved to Fremont, Ca in 1960.Richard was a hard working family man. He spent a few years working small jobs until getting hired at Tri-Valley Growers where he worked for 31 years before retiring in 1994. Upon retiring, Richard and Carol spent several years traveling across the country in their RV before moving to Yuma, AZ. They enjoyed their time in the sun and making new friends. In 2007, they moved to Livingston, Ca before settling in Turlock, Ca. Both Richard and Carol joined the Church of Christ in 2008 where they were baptized.Richard is preceded in death by his parents; Leo and Nester; his siblings Edmund, Jeanice, and Marjorie. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Carol Maxfield; his children, Susan (Clint) and Richard Jr (Debbie) both of Fremont, Ca, Gregory (Geraldine) of Tenino, Wa; his 5 grandchildren; Ben, Josh, Jennifer, Daniel, Rebecca, Melissa; his 11 great grandchildren; Joshua, Bryce, Sky, Noah, Alexis, Kanaloa, Cory, Christina, Mckenzie, Jayla, and Blade; and his 4 great great grandchildren; Brailee, Elijah, Iziah and Izabella.Richard will always be known for being a hard working family man. He coached little league for almost 15 years with his sons and grandsons. He loved the Atlanta Braves and could talk baseball all day long. He loved to travel; taking his wife on 3 different cruises. He also loved spending time in his workshop building projects that he loved to give to family and friends. He adored his miniature poodles that he had in his life; George, Suzi, Amanda and Coey.Upon his request, there will be no official services. A family gathering is planned.
