Richard "Wheaties" Gonzalez's Obituary
Jan. 22, 1938 April 29, 2008 Resident of Union City Loving father and Grandfather Ricardo Wheaties Gonzalez entered the lords kingdom on Monday, April 29,2008 at St Rose Hospital. He was joined by the hands of his loving wife Lupe Gonzalez and sons Johnny and Martin “Tini” Gonzalez along with his father Fidel and mother Maria and brother Monte. He is survived by by daughter Yolanda Duran and husband Danny Duran, daughter Luisa, Son Ricky and wife Annette Gonzalez, daughter Michele and husband Jim Vallejo, his 20 grand kids and 10 great grand kids and brothers Don, Rodney and Philip. Wheaties was a human rights activist and a Nummi Retiree and Active member of the UAW. He played a major role for the Chicano movement and was honored with the Cesar Chavez legacy award for his devotion to the Cesar Chavez and United Farm Workers cause. His warm loving smile with by deeply missed by his family and friends. Service held Monday, May 5Th 5:30-6:30 Chapel of Chimes in Hayward. Tuesday, May 6Th 10 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary in Union City.
