Reynaldo B Pila's Obituary
Reynaldo Bocalan Pila had passed away in his San Leandro residence on February 27, 2018 at the age of 81. He was born on December 22, 1936 in Tanza, Cavite to the parents of Estanislao Pila and Felisa Pila. Born third into a growing family of eventually seven siblings total, he spent much of his free time with extended family. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy.Reynaldo is survived by his wife, Leoncia Joya Pila. He first met Leoncia while walking along the road on their way to and from school. They were from town, so it was natural to know things about each other. After high school, Reynaldo joined the U.S. Navy. Soon after, he began courting Leoncia. For years, he would write to her, especially during the holidays and special occasions. He would visit Leoncia at her home whenever he had shore leave. Their eventual first date came just after his holiday shore leave in 1962, and a week and a half later, they tied the knot on January 3, 1963.Their union eventually brought them overseas to the states; they first lived in Rhode Island, and then moved to California. It would not be long until they had their first child, Reynaldo Pila Jr, on April 19, 1970, in San Diego. Then soon after, they gave birth to their second child, Richard Pila, on December 23, 1971 in Oakland, California. After approximately 20 years of service, he retired from the United States Navy on January 3, 1978. He serviced on naval vessels, such as USS Joseph P Kennedy Jr (DD-8850), USS Kilauea (AE-26), and USS Okinawa (LPH-3)..
