Cohen, Reva Marilyn's Obituary
Reva Marilyn Cohen passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born in Chicago, Illinois where she married her beloved husband Benjamin Cohen in 1949. It was in Skokie, Illinois that they raised their two children, Michael and Sharyn, until moving to Oakland, California in 1971. Reva and Ben planted roots in the east bay where they grew a community of friends and family. Their home was a vibrant hub, always open with a warm meal, a listening ear, and filled with the sounds of laughter, conversation, and music – Reva at the piano and Ben with his violin.
Reva and Ben were loving partners of 56 years until his death in 2005. After Ben’s passing, Reva continued to touch the lives of many with her kindness and generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word.
Reva was predeceased by her sister Alyce Nasatir and her son Michael Cohen. She is survived by her devoted daughter Sharyn (Gary) Ginsberg, daughter-in-law Anna Cohen, and nephews Steven (Carolyn) Nasatir and Cary (Jan) Nasatir. She had eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Reva's legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to her family will forever be remembered and celebrated. She was known for her unwavering integrity and warmth, and her presence brought joy and comfort to those around her.
