REMY SANCIANGCO's Obituary
REMY SANCIANGCOResident of FremontDecember 3, 1923 — December 9, 2014 Remedios (Remy) Fajardo Sanciangco passed away at Washington Hospital in Fremont CA on December 9, 2014 at the age of 91. Remy was born in Licab, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on December 3, 1923 as Remedios Mendoza Fajardo. She graduated from Far Eastern University in the Philippines in 1947 Summa Cum Laude, and taught Accounting at a Women’s College. Remy is predeceased by her husband Fernando (Fred) Sanciangco, who passed away in 2002. They were married in the Philippines on October 1952, and she followed him across the ocean to the United States as a young US Navy wife. Remy was the second oldest of 15 brothers and sisters, and is lovingly remembered by her surviving 2 brothers and 3 sisters and her three adult children: daughter Evelyn and her husband John Dilsaver of San Leandro, son Rick Sanciangco and his wife Kellie of Pleasanton, and her daughter Shirley and her husband Eldon Paulson of Fremont. She was the wonderful grandmother of John Jr. (wife Janelle), Danny and Patrick Dilsaver, Nicole, Danielle and Alex Sanciangco, and Ryan (wife Brittany) and Zach Paulson. She was the proud new great-grandmother of 8 month old Charlie Dilsaver and 10 week old Meli Rain Paulson, whose antics always made her smile. She was the matriarch of our close knit and growing family. Her family was her joy; she was happiest surrounded by her family and by her many friends. In her younger days, Remy enjoyed watching baseball, watching Jeopardy, dancing with her husband, traveling and going to the nearest casino with her “fabulous five” friends. She was always involved with her children and grandchildren’s lives, volunteering at their schools when they were in elementary and high school, attending many games and school activities, and chauffeuring to and from sports events. She had earned her CPA and worked for 15 years at the City of Oakland as an Accountant, a job she loved and where she established many life-long friendships. She was positive, energetic and always a giving force in all of our lives, and will be truly missed. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a sharp wit, and a ready smile. She was an excellent cook and set the standard for all of us for her tasty Filipino dishes. As she aged, she lost some of her vigor but never her spirit. For her final years she lived happily at Fremont Hills Assisted Living in Fremont. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on December 26, 2014 from 10am-12noon at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Boulevard, Hayward, CA 94544. The funeral service will follow immediately from 12noon-1:00pm.
