Regalado Espiritu Legaspi's Obituary
Regalado Espiritu Legaspi, of San Leandro, CA, a beloved soul, gracefully departed from our midst at the age of 77 on November 8th, 2023, surrounded by the warmth of family at the Palo Alto Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Born on April 3, 1946, in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines, to Felipe and Consuelo Legaspi, he was the fourth of five cherished siblings.
Regalado's life unfolded with dedicated service and unwavering commitment. From 1969 to 1974, he served as a police officer in Bacoor, culminating his career with distinction as a Sergeant. Following the inspiring example set by his older brothers Virgilio and Manuel, Regalado enlisted in the United States Navy in 1974. Serving actively for four years as an aircraft mechanic on the U.S.S. Enterprise, he then dedicated 16 years to Civil Service at the Naval Air Station in Alameda, California.
During his time in Alameda, fate smiled upon him as he crossed paths with his future wife, Amelia, at the naval base bowling alley. Their love story blossomed, leading to a union at the Treasure Island Chapel on January 7, 1978.
Regalado's heart found solace in the embrace of home. A true sports enthusiast, he reveled in watching the Oakland A’s, Golden State Warriors, and the 49ers from the comfort of his recliner. His culinary skills were a testament to his passion for food, always eager to share the delights he prepared. An accomplished ham radio operator, fisherman, and target shooter, he delighted in passing on these skills to his children and grandchildren.
Above all, family held the highest place in Regalado's heart. The twinkle in his eye and the warmth in his smile were never more pronounced than when he was surrounded by his grandchildren. He took immense pride in instilling the essence of family values and showering affection upon his loved ones.
Regalado has now joined his brothers, Ernesto, Virgilio, and Manuel, who preceded him in death. In his wake, Regalado leaves a rich legacy of love and treasured memories. He is survived by his dedicated wife, Amelia; his children, Bobby and Maricelle; his beloved grandchildren, Anthony, Sadie, Ally, and Cas; and his sister, Leonore.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and the enduring bonds of family. May his spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts, guiding us with the lessons of his remarkable journey.
