Ratna Shrivastava's Obituary
Ratna Shrivastava, beloved wife of the late Mr. Niranjan Prasad Shrivastava, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, in Fremont, California, after a courageous six-month battle with cancer.
Ratna, affectionately known as “Bua” to all who knew and loved her, was born on March 10, 1942, in Patna, Bihar, India, to Sarda Pati Sahay and Ram Sakhi Devi. She was raised in Patna, where she completed her education and built the foundation of the kind, devoted, and compassionate life she would go on to live.
In 1966, Ratna married Niranjan Prasad Shrivastava, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2016. After their marriage, she moved to Canada and later migrated to the United States, living in Maryland, New Jersey, and Illinois before finally settling in Fremont, California, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Ratna was a deeply selfless, religious, and devout person who dedicated her life to helping others. She was always ready to support anyone in need and touched countless lives with her kindness, humility, and generosity. As an active member of the Vedanta Society, she devoted much of her life to the teachings and service of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa and Maa Sarada Devi.
Even during her battle with cancer, Ratna never complained. Her strength, grace, and concern for those around her remained unchanged. She continued to think of others before herself, a true reflection of the loving and compassionate person she was.
She will be dearly missed by her surviving family members, friends, and all who had the blessing of knowing her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace with her Creator and with the loved ones and ancestors who departed before her.
Om Shanti.
