Randy John Heeren's Obituary
Our Papa, Randy Heeren, was the kind of person who made life feel bigger, louder, and so much more fun. On April 14th, we lost him—way too soon, way too fast—and our world just doesn’t feel the same without him in it.
He wasn’t just a sports fan—he was the guy you wanted next to you during a game. He was loud in all the best ways, loyal to his teams (and his people), always ready with a hilarious one-liner or a passionate yell at the TV or sporting event. Including our Tahitian Dance Competitions that my sister Addy & I were in. He was the heartbeat of our family, the laughter in our world, the voice singing way too loud in the car, and the one who showed up every single time for our family—no matter what.
He was a proud husband, Papa, Tahitian drummer, a Pepsi guy, and a friend you could always count on. But to me and my sister, he was our superhero. The guy who made us feel like we could do anything. The one who danced with us, cheered for us, drove us crazy sometimes, and loved us more fiercely than we’ll ever be able to explain.
He had his favorites—watching his favorite sports teams, blasting music with the windows down, watching us dance, drumming alongside his Kawailehua Hula Ohana brothers, our many family Disneyland trips (even when we walked too slow for his taste), and repping Pepsi with pride for 26 years. But nothing meant more to him than being married to the love of his life, our Mama Mary, and being our Papa. The three of us were his whole heart. And he will continue to be ours.
There’s a giant void now where he used to be—where his voice, his laugh always filled the room. We already miss his hugs, his kisses before he left for work and before he went to sleep. We miss him more than words could ever say.
Please join us for Papa’s viewing on Monday, May 5th at Chapel of the Chimes- Mission Chapel (32992 Mission Blvd, Hayward, CA 94544) from 4:00pm - 8:00pm, with the Rosary at 6:30pm. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 6th, at Our Lady of The Rosary Church (703 C Street, Union City, CA 94587) at 10:00 am. Afterwards, we will hold a Celebration of Life at the Our Lady of The Rosary Church Hall next door.
We hope you can join us in celebrating Papa’s life by telling a story, hearing his favorite songs, sharing a memory or a hug. Let’s fill the room with all the love he gave out to everyone so effortlessly.
Although the pain and shock of his sudden passing is heartbreaking, we are appreciative of everyone’s love and support during this unbearable time.
Papa, you’ll forever be in our hearts. We love you always!
