Ramesh Kansara's Obituary
.Danville – Ramesh T. Kansara, 79, of Danville, passed away peacefully with his family at his side at John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, CA, on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. He was born in Gujarat, India, March 26, 1940. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sushila Kansara, sons Piyush (daughter-in-law Purvi), and Rahul (daughter-in-law Niti), doting grandchildren: Parth, Pranaya, Jay and Krish; brother Dr. Rasik Kansara (sister-in-law Sarla), sister Manorama (brother-in-law Anil), and many cousins, nephews and nieces.Ramesh started his career in Mumbai, after receiving his Bachelor of Science in CIvil Engineering form LD Engineering college in Ahmedabad, India. He then immigrated to the USA, and received his Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He had designed many structures around the Bay Area, including portions of Pier 39 and BART stations. After, he started his own successful consulting company, focusing on plan checking and review services for many cities in the Bay Area. In addition to being a seismic/earthquake design expert, he held executive posts in the ICC – International Code Council, East Bay Chapter, and the ICBO-International Conference of Building Officials.His fondness of nature and his community led to his contributing his time and finances to them. He supported the following organizations: The Sierra Club, Monterey Bay Aquarium, Lindsay Wildlife Museum, Academy of Whole Learning-a school for special needs children, Oklahoma State University; and religious organizations: Swadhyay, Bay Area Youth Vaishnav Parivar, Brahma Kumaris, Geeta Society, as well as the Vaishnav Temple in Radhanpur and the Kalika Mataji Temple in India.He loved the outdoors, and was a frequent hiker and traveler. Ramesh was a self taught harmonium player, and a lover of Indian classical music. In addition, he was an avid sportsman, competing in many local running road races. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to the charity of your choice.
