Precioso ES Querubin's Obituary
A very talented man with simple needs, a humble heart and beloved by all
Precioso ES Querubin of San Leandro, recently passed away this March 18, 2023 at around 3:23 am due to health complications. He was surrounded by his sons, daughters and grand kids at the time of his passing.
Help us honor the memory of our dear father Precioso starting by sharing his wonderful story.
Precioso, called “Pre” by many, was born on July 10, 1942 in Manila, Philippines at the height of the Japanese invasion during world war II. Premature at birth with no medical facilities available, Precioso survived with the help of a makeshift incubator made of shoe boxes and heat generated by light bulbs. A survivor at birth, Precioso would certainly be the one to do the most daring feats and he certainly was the most handful compared to his two sisters and two brothers. It has been told that at one time, he even wrapped a towel around his neck and jumped off the second-floor window of his home pretending to be Superman! Although no broken bones suffered, he sure wasn’t unscathed when his mom got home.
Growing up he got into martial arts and practiced Karate with his brother Emmy. As he got older, his love for the arts bloomed and studied to become a graphic artist that paved the way for his career. In his teens, Precioso met our mom Merceditas at a neighboring high school near Paco Catholic High School. Although never having learned to read notes or chords, he played in the guitar songs he heard on the radio to serenade Merceditas. They got married in August 1961 and started a family of three boys and three girls all of whom shared the same interest of watching sports and gameshows! Being a kind, dependable and a providing father was of the utmost importance to Precioso and he certainly didn’t fall short when it came to wholeheartedly loving and taking care of his family. Never to turn down a great opportunity, Precioso migrated with his family to the US in the early 90’s to ensure everyone can be given the chance and opportunity of a better life. Sadly, Precioso lost the love of his life Merceditas in 2019, after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer.
A devoted husband, a devout catholic, a great friend, a loving father, a crossword freak, a news junkie, a jeopardy fanatic, and the truest Golden State Warriors’ fan, Precioso is survived by his three siblings (Emmy, Franz and Ochie) , his six kids (Jun, Tina, Pipit, Chichi, Paolo and Rico), three wonderful daughters-in-law (Connie, Sara, Cheryle), son-in-law (Jayson), ten grandkids (Nadine, Kandra, Leila, Julia, Jared, Alessandra, Raphael, Gabriel, Diego, Astrea) , three great grandkids (Elliot, Geno, Evoli), a bunny and two dogs (Cody and Niko).
Join us on April 4th for the vigil service from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA. Then for a mass service at Our Lady of Good Counsel in San Leandro on April 5th at 11 am then back to the Chapel of the Chimes where he will be laid to rest with his forever love, Merceditas.
