PILAR TORRES's Obituary
Pilar Torres, a resident of Fremont, peacefully passed away in her sleep on Friday the 1st of January 2016, at Windsor Park Nursing Home. Pilar was born in Cavite City, Philippines on October 12, 1926. She was the eldest of five sisters. During her early years in the Philippines, Pilar worked at the Women’s Army Corps, eventually moving on to become the women’s department head at Sangley Point US Naval Base retail store. In 1975, she married George Torres and immigrated to America. In 1976 her only daughter Rowena joined her in San Francisco, California. ! Pilar loved shopping, presenting herself well, good food — especially deserts, traveling the world on cruises, music, Betty Boop, and most of all, caring for her grand children, Rachelle, Brian, and Danielle. She always chose to see the good in people. She is survived by her daughter Rowena, son-in-law Rency, three grandchildren Rachelle, Brian, and Danielle, sisters Cielito Alberto and Victoria Martinez, and in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. ! She will be missed dearly for her humor, beauty, and love of life.
