Phyllis Lorraine Grace's Obituary
Phyllis Lorraine Grace was born on March 31, 1942 in Handsboro, Gulfport Mississippi to Lillian Harris and Archie Leroy Freightman.
Phyllis spent her youth in the community of her birth along with her siblings. She loved singing and socializing during her formative years. Her vibrant personality paralleled her attraction to style and fashion, and she always dressed representing the attributes of a true lady; which followed her into adulthood. She graduated from Thirty-Third Avenue High School in Gulfport Mississippi, May 1961.
She met A.V. Grace while living in Mississippi, and migrated to California along with him and two young sons. Two daughters eventually joined the fold, the older was born during the family residency in San Francisco, and the younger daughter was born once the family relocated to East Palo Alto, Ca.
She became a popular member of that community, working in several school districts before landing a job in the Sequoia Union High School District -- working at San Carlos High School, Menlo Atherton High School, and finally Sequoia High School which is where she changed positions from Campus Aid to Custodial Professional. She retired from the district and lived out her final years in Los Banos Ca.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Glenn D. Grace, Arthur Vance Grace, and Delisa Rochelle Grace, as well as, grandchildren Brittany Lawshawn Grace, Arthur Vance Grace II, Stephon Devion Grace, Marquise Grace, Marquisha Grace, Trevion Grace, and Amari Grace, Zariya Bryant, and Rudy Bryant; honorary grand-daughter, Eniyah Roy. Four Great-Grandchildren, Aviana, Aiden, Mattie, & Aleah.
She is also survived by four sisters, Sharrell Freightman, Beverly Green, Janice Williams, Angie Freeman Longino, and two brothers, Archie Leroy Freightman and Mitchell Gage, as well as, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, honorary children and friends
She is also survived by her former husband, A. V. Grace of Kentwood LA
Preceded in death were daughter, Detria Lashwan Grace, her brother Clifton Leon Freightman, her father Archie Leroy Freightman Jr, and mother, Lillian Freightman-White.
