PETER JOHN KOSTAL PETER JOHN KOSTAL May 12, 1925 – February 4, 2007 Passed away peacefully on Sunday February 4th with his loving family and Lorraine, his wife of 60 years, by his side. While we will miss his physical presence dearly, we take comfort in knowing he has moved on to his Eternal Home. Pete was born in Oakland, CA. and lived the majority of his life in Hayward, CA. He graduated from hayward High School and served 3 years in the Coast Guard during World War II. There are many fond memories shared by family and friends from the 35 plus years Pete and Lorraine spent at their family cabin. Pete built his cabin for his family with the same enthusiasm and loving care that he lived his life. Pete was a successful contractor in the Hayward area. He was well known for his exceptional integrity in his life and career. He was the “K” in the K & T Builders for 8 years with long time friend and colleague Jack Tabel. He spent the rest of his successful career in business for himself and took pride in his son Gene following in his footsteps. He enjoyed annual trips with his wife and friends to Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas and always looked forward to trips to Reno. An avid gardener, his home was surrounded by flower gardens tended with love. His home was his castle and his attention to detail was evident in everything he created. Pete is survived by his wife Lorraine, son gene Kostal and his wife Debbie of Castro Valley, daughter Debbie Marlow and her husband Bud of Ripon, CA., daughter Tina McCully and her husband Robert of Olympia, WA., and daughter Lori McRae and her husband Tom of Olympia, WA., 7 loving grandchildren and 3 beautiful great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Elida Kostal and his sisters Martha Gustafson and Ruth Ann Lambly and survived by sisters Helen Lanfear of San Leandro and Elida Mesa of Woodside. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 3 at 11am at Chapel of the Chimes, Hayward, Calif.
