Obituary – Peggy Koe ChewPeggy Koe Chew passed away on June 25, 2019 surrounded by her family, in Alameda, California. Born on April 6, 1920, she lived a full and active life until just a few weeks before her passing at the age of 99 years. She was born in Astoria, Oregon as one of fourteen children of her parents who emigrated from China.Peggy married Francis B. Chew in 1942, her husband of 41 years until his passing in 1983. They lived in San Francisco until moving to Hayward, California in 1961 where they raised their three children, Melinda, Debbie and Jerry. Peggy worked for the County of Alameda and Chabot Community College. She enjoyed a wonderful circle of friends, played mahjong, and traveled with family and friends. Most of all, she cherished her time with her three grandchildren, Gregory, Michael and Madeline, playing games, watching them grow and cooking her wonderful Chinese meals and treats together.She is survived by her elder daughter Melinda Matsuda and her husband Mike Pucci of Alameda, California her younger daughter Debbie Nolan and her sons Gregory of Oak Hill, Virginia and Michael of Chicago, Illinois, and her son Jerry Chew, his wife Laura Martin and their daughter Madeline of Portland,Oregon.
