Pauline Kaurin's Obituary
Pauline Kaurin, age 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, July 21st. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She leaves behind her loving husband, Howard Kaurin of 54 years. Pauline was born in Mexicali, Mexico on December 31, 1927 and moved to San Francisco at the age of 25. There she found the love of her life, Howard Kaurin. They were married in 1962, and were blessed to have spent the past 54 years deeply in love, while happily building and nurturing their family which include two daughters, Johanna Overton (Tom) and Valerie Suhl (Craig) whom adored her. Pauline and Howard raised their children in the city of Alameda. She was grandmother to her five wonderful grandchildren, Dominic, Anthony, Stefan, Nicole and Matt. It gave her great joy to spend time with them, and loved hearing all about each of her grandchildren’s lives, and their successes in life. Pauline obtained her Cosmetology license, a profession in which she truly enjoyed for many years. Her love of children inspired her to become a Teacher’s Assistant in the Alameda and Oakland Unified School District until she retired. In the latter days of her life, Pauline and Howard enjoyed traveling to Palm Desert as well as her family’s ranch in Mexico. She had many pastimes, but she especially loved sports, and became an avid sports fan thanks to her son in laws who inspired her to cheer on the Giants, Warriors and Indianapolis Colts. Her hobbies included Tuesday night Bingo, cooking delicious meals and sharing her family recipes. She loved tending to her orchid garden, crocheting, and had deep appreciation for the local senior center. There Pauline made wonderful lasting friendships and participated in activities that gave her much enjoyment with her peers. She will be remembered for her beautiful spirit, her kind words, her love of her husband, family and friends, and will be deeply missed by all of those she touched in her life.
