PAULINE CHAVEZ's Obituary
Pauline Chavez, (also known as Paby & Paulita) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 17th, 2014. She was 85 years old.Born April 2, 1929 in Oakland, CA. Pauline grew up & lived in Oakland CA for over 40 years, moving to San Leandro/San Lorenzo in 1976 and a recent resident of Hayward, CA. She worked for the Hayward Unified School District for over 20 years as a lunch lady working in almost every school in the district.She was a loving mother to her only daughter Yolanda, whom she affectionately called “Mica”. In her younger years she loved to go dancing and still in her elder years loved to dance. She was a diehard Oakland A’s fan and enjoyed going to games and having a hot dog & a diet Pepsi or rooting them on from her recliner. Her hobbies were doing word search puzzles and listening to her Mexican music (as she called it).She is preceded in death by her parents, Pablo & Mercedes Hernandez, sisters Guadalupe Arias, Marcelina H. Ortiz, Mercedes Cabrales, Santiaga Martinez, brother Cruz Hernandez and best friend Josephine Duran.She is survived by her daughter Yolanda Chavez-Howland & son-in-law Steve Howland, her best friends Olivia & George Romero and her Goddaugther’s Elba, Denise & Donna. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews. She was loved very much by all.
