Opal R. Booth's Obituary
Opal R. Booth, 82, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2002 in Hayward. She was born on November 14, 1919 in Elgin, Kansas. She moved to California in 1939 and worked in the Benicia Arsenal during the war. She married Carl W. Booth in 1942 and began raising their family. After Carl died in 1975, Opal went to work for Mervyns Hayward distribution center until she retired in 1992. Opal was the beloved Mother of Dorothy Decker(deceased), Betty and Ben(deceased) Haidle of Az., Alice Whitfield of Wa., Carl M.(deceased) and Cathy Booth of Livermore, Jimmy Booth(deceased), Joseph Booth of Hayward, Ca and Cathy(Booth) and Zoltan Schoenfeld of Half Moon Bay, Ca. She was Grandmother and Great Grandmother to Debbie and Ron Nickels and son Clayton of Livermore, Ca. David Ramey and daughter Ashley of Union City, Ca., Bonnie McLeod and children Brian and Megan of Discovery Bay, Ca. Leonard Whitfield of Wa. John Whitfield Jr.(deceased), Teresa and Michael Heath and their daughters Jennifer and Ashley of Wa. Calbert Whitfield of Wa., Angelia Booth and her son Jason of Lake Almanor, Ca. Michelle Schoenfeld of Mountain View, Ca., and Sharon Schoenfeld and her daughter Mercedes of Mountain View, Ca.. Opal is also survived by her dear sister, Loree Lewis of Stockton, Ca. Opal spent the last 6 months of her life at Courtyard Care Nursing Home in Hayward, where she made many new friends. Opal's love of life and the caring and kindness she bestowed upon all those around her will be forever and greatly missed. She was a beacon of honesty and goodness, lighting the way for her family and friends – Heavens gain is our loss.
