Omie V. Gonzales' Obituary
Omie V Gonzales Sept 21, 1926 – July 25, 2011 Resident of Livermore Omie Gonzales (nee Kerner) passed away peacefully on Monday morning. Omie was born and raised in Texas. She moved to California and settled in the Bay Area during WWII. Initially she lived in Brisbane and then resided for many years in Hayward with her husband Tom and three children. Omie worked for the Navy as a budget analyst. After her husband’s passing, she moved to Livermore. She volunteered much of her time to the First American Baptist Church in Hayward, to Kaiser Hayward and Livermore, to the literacy program at the Hayward Library, and to the ESL program at Cedar Grove Community Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Tom, brother Melvin, and sister Inez. Her survivors include her daughter Darlene Gonzales of Hurst, TX; Jerry Gonzales (Janet) of Media, PA; and Tom Gonzales (Debbie) of Livermore, CA. Her grandchildren include Karen (Joe), Kevin (Rebekah), Jeremy, Justine, Emily and Andy and three great-granddaughters Kiley, Lexi, and Samantha. Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from 4:30-8:30 pm and a service on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Boulevard in Hayward. Additionally, a reception following the service will be held at Cedar Grove in Livermore. Donations can be made in her name to Cedar Grove Community Church, 2021 College Avenue, Livermore CA, 94550.
