Ollie Annette Smith's Obituary
After a lengthy illness, Ollie Annette Smith passed away on September 13, 2018 in Fremont, CA. She resided in Union City with her loving husband and son.Ollie Annette Smith was born to Fred and Naomi Tinsley on May 29, 1949 in Delhi, LA. She graduated from Ester Toombs High School where she was Ms Ester Toombs in 1967. Upon graduation, Ollie attended and graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA in 1971.After graduating from SU, Ollie relocated to Hayward, CA where she met and married Kenneth E. Smith on October 7, 1972. Ken and Ollie resided in Union City, CA with their son, Marcus Jerard, where Ken worked as a real estate agent and Marcus became a successful graphic design artist.Ollie worked as a microbiologist for Planters Peanuts and Shasta Beverages until her retirement. After leaving the beverage industry, Ollie formulated her own line of teas called Blue Moon Tea and sold them at her shop in Niles, CA. Ollie enjoyed stocking her tea shop with hand picked antiques and other goodies.Ollie enjoyed her time serving as a member and director of the Union City Chamber of Commerce where she organized several business openings, ribbon cuttings and local events.Ollie leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Kenneth E Smith, son, Marcus Jerard Smith, mother, Naomi Tinsley, siblings, Fred Tinsley, John Tinsley, Leo Tinsley, Naomi Tinsley, and Kenneth Tinsley. She also leaves nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces as well as countless extended family members and many loving friends. Ollie was preceded in death by her father, Fred Tinsley.A memorial service will be held on September 19, 2018 followed by a private family service where the ashes will be scattered near memorable Half Moon Bay.Please send flowers and cards for the Smith family to Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward, CA.
