Norman W. Shrader
August 30th 1934-March 30th 2020
Resident of Hayward A lifelong resident of Hayward. Norm was born at home on Haviland Ave in 1934 and passed away at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley at the age of 85 after a short illness. Norm was the son of the late Wilber and Blanche Shrader and deceased brothers Robert and Allan Shrader.
After graduating from Hayward High School in 1951- Norm attended University of California, Berkeley then attended UCSF School of Pharmacy. He then joined the Army while becoming a pharmacist. While working at Redwood Pharmacy Norm would meet and marry Mary Shrader until her passing in 2017 after 47 years of marriage.
Norm is survived by his family, Larry and Betty Stockton, Richard and Pat Stockton, Robert and Terry Stockton and Gilbert and Janet Luna. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Norm grew up in Hayward and was a diligent active boy. He delivered papers for the Daily Review and having part-time jobs over the summer working for Hunts Cannery in Hayward and eventually sweeping floors and stocking shelves at a couple of drug stores- getting the idea that becoming a pharmacist would be a great career. He then fulfilled his goal by becoming a Licensed Pharmacist in 1959.
Along the way, Norm had many outlets. One was bowling at the local Lanes on Mission Blvd and becoming a very good bowler and eventually bowling at Castro Village Lanes in Castro Valley.
Norms parents, Wilber and Blanche moved from Hayward to Paradise CA in the 1960's.After leaving the Bay Area and then to Trinity County finding a fantastic property on the Trinity river as their new Residence.
Norm and Mary started going on trips to the river which is outside of Redding CA in the Trinity Alps. Norm and Mary loved to go fishing and enjoying the beauty of this area. Norm was a great fisherman and loved teaching the younger family members how to fish.
Norm had many hobbies and activities. He liked to collect coins, baseball cards and enjoyed going to all sport events. Norm had a full life of sports, family and lots of friends.
He will be missed dearly and will always be in our hearts.
